PreHeat (spring) and AfterBurn (late fall) are fundraisers with proceeds directed to future art grants, land funds, and programs.

Based on the 10 Principles of Burning Man, these annual events draw participants from all over the world.

Events are based on an organizational structure similar to that of New Zealand’s KiwiBurn with volunteers filling roles of administrative staff, an executive committee, and an event operations committee. Departments of event volunteers provide operational logistics from our community Rangers to our gate teams and Leave No Trace (LNT) teams that ensure property we visit is left in the same condition we found it in.

For federal income tax purposes, participants may deduct as a charitable contribution the price of each invitation less its fair market value, estimated at $15.00 (2017)
